The client for this particular project was a retailer based in Scotland. They wanted to centralise information about stock levels to make it accessible for anyone with appropriate security clearance to check levels as and when necessary. As such, they required a system that would securely allow the business to operate a stock control system that incorporated 3 or 4 depots as well as all of their shops throughout the country.
During the first phases of this project, Tentacle Solutions visited the client’s main shops and their depots in a bid to understand not only the processes they required of the software but also the type of operators that would ultimately be using it. The level of their abilities would determine just how complex the software would be because it would determine just who could use it. It would also establish just how many different security levels were required as well as how many people would have to have access to certain elements in both the shops and the depots.
On this occasion, Tentacle Solutions delivered an online .NET system that was able to add more functionality than was originally asked for and which resulted in data being reported that was 25% more accurate than expected.
